Preparing for Dying Workshop
comes to Cambridge - Saturday 14th June
So inspired by the workshop team
in London Sophie Dansie has invited Josefine Speyer (co-founder of the
Natural Death
Centre) and Susan Morris (Palliative Care Nurse) to come and give a
similar workshop in Cambridge in June.
The Workshop costs £55 if booked
before the 17th May and £60 after. Please make cheques out to Josephine
Speyer.
"You are never too young or too old" and this was true of the age
range of people who attend these workshops. Sophie found the one day
February session was one of the most enlightening and practical
workshops she has ever been too; so much so she has invited Josefine and
Susan to Cambridge to do a similar workshop so that more people can have
the opportunity of discussing and learning about a subject that remains
a taboo even though it is one of life's most important ceremonies. For

STOP PRESS - 72% lower emissions
Here are the results of the emissions test
we carried out recently on a NatureBoard™ Eco Coffin® at Cambridge Crematorium. What
we did was burn a standard chipboard veneer coffin followed immediately
by one of our NatureBoard™ Eco Coffins® to give us accurate and comparable
data readouts.
The main
finding was that the particulate emissions from one of our NatureBoard™Eco Coffins are
up to 83% lower than from a standard chipboard veneer
coffin. Detailed readings were as follows (these are verified by
Cambridge Crematorium):
Carbon Monoxide emissions
Eco Coffin:
106 mg/m3 (maximum)
Chipboard veneer coffin: 378 mg/m3 (maximum)
Comparison: Eco Coffins Carbon Monoxide emissions -
72% lower.
Indicative Particulate Matter
emissions
Eco Coffin: 3
mg/m3 (maximum)
Chipboard veneer coffin: 17 mg/m3 (maximum)
Comparison: Eco Coffins Indicative Particulate
Matter emissions - 83% lower.
Our coffins also burn at a lower
temperature, average of 754 C against 866 C, thereby reducing
energy consumption as well. The emissions data speaks for itself, and
with regulatory bodies and crematoriums themselves eager to cut down on
harmful emissions, our NatureBoard™
Eco Coffins present a good solution.
The other important area for
Crematoria is the strength of the coffin; some are concerned that
cardboard coffins will buckle when being charged into the cremator. This
is not an issue for NatureBoard™, our main point of difference has always
been the strength of the coffins, and invariably when crematoriums have
used our coffins, they are delighted to use them on an ongoing basis.
Hollywood gets green burials
Two NatureBoard™
Eco Coffins have just set out for Hollywood. They are appearing in
"Powder Blue" a film, starring Forest Whittaker, who plays a Los Angeles mortician. It's not hard to see
why it's being tipped to be the hit of 2008 - the cast includes Forest
Whittaker, Ray Liotta, Jennifer Biels, Kris Kristofferson, Patrick Swayze
and of course, two of our EcoCoffins!! More soon....
