Our coffins

If you are organising a funeral for a member of your family, or a much-loved friend, you will want their farewell to be personal to them; a celebration of their life. You also want it to be dignified, but not at an extraordinary cost to you or the environment.

Our cardboard coffins offer an environmentally friendly alternative to the majority of coffins used in the UK. Over 80% of coffins currently used are made from chipboard; the production of chipboard requires significant volumes of formaldehyde, a carcinogenic pollutant, and chipboard coffins release toxins when cremated or buried.

Eco Coffins are made from recycled cardboard in the UK, so unlike many coffins which are imported, we are not stamping a large carbon footprint. they cremate with 90% lower carbon emissions than a standard chipboard coffin, and for burial they are 100% biodegradable. In addition, due to the multi-layered construction technique of the coffins they are extremely strong (easily carrying up to 20 stone).

Eco Coffins are available in plain, traditional or colourful finishes.

We sell directly to Funeral Directors, but if you are interested in purchasing an Eco Coffin please give our details to your Funeral Director and ask them to call us, or contact us directly and we will speak to the Funeral Director on your behalf.

Featured on BBC 2's "It's Not Easy Being Green"

If you were watching Episode 4 of this great programme about all things green you will have seen one of our coffins that has been hand-decorated. The programme featured the beautiful Delliefure woodland burial ground. The cardboard coffin featured is our Signature coffin and was beautifully decorated by the lady, Ginny Slater, and her children. It is an increasingly popular option as it makes a farewell truly personal.
